Australia requires IELTS 6.0 overall for a student visa, with most universities requiring 6.5–7.0 (higher for health, law, and nursing programmes). The UK requires IELTS 6.0–6.5 for Tier 4 student visas; Russell Group universities often require 7.0 or above. Canada requires IELTS 6.0–6.5 for most universities. New Zealand and Ireland follow similar requirements. PTE Academic is accepted as a direct alternative to IELTS in all of these countries. No — you do not need IELTS or any English proficiency test to book a counselling session at EVEC. In fact, EVEC strongly recommends counselling before you book your IELTS test. Different countries, universities, and visa categories require different English tests (IELTS Academic, IELTS General Training, PTE Academic, TOEFL iBT) at different minimum band scores.
