Step 1: Register on UCAS Hub
Create an account at ucas.com. You will need your personal details, school/college information, and an adviser buzzword (if applying through a school — EVEC students use EVEC’s buzzword for group applications with counsellor oversight).
Step 2: Choose Your 5 Universities
Research each university’s specific entry requirements for your course, including NEB grade requirements, IELTS scores, and any admissions tests. Apply to: 2 ambitious choices (reach universities), 2 realistic choices (well within your profile), 1 safe choice (below your predicted grades). You do not rank your choices — universities cannot see where else you have applied.
Step 3: Write Your Personal Statement
The UCAS Personal Statement is 4,000 characters (approximately 650 words). Unlike a general SOP, it is subject-focused — you should write about WHY you want to study this specific subject, what you have done to explore it beyond school (books read, online courses, relevant work/volunteering), and what you aim to do with the degree. Step 4: Reference Letter
Your reference is written by a teacher or school counsellor, submitted directly through UCAS. UK universities take references seriously — brief your referee with specific academic achievements, research projects, and personal qualities you want highlighted. Step 5: Submit and Track Decisions
After submission, track decisions through UCAS Hub. Possible outcomes: Unconditional Offer (UO) — accepted without conditions; Conditional Offer (CO) — accepted if you meet grade/language conditions; Unsuccessful — rejected. Once you have all decisions, use UCAS to accept your Firm choice (CF) and Insurance choice (CI). Then work on meeting any conditions (final NEB results, IELTS score).
